Last updated: 7/5/2015 10:50:49 PM by Dean Kavanagh
This July, Switch Radio presenter Emma O’Brien will be skydiving to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association. Emma chose to support MND Association after the support they offered her and her family when her grandmother was diagnosed with MND. Emma will be fundraising in the run up to the jump.

Emma will be celebrating her 21st birthday this year by skydiving in honour of her nan, Betty Tucker, who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease and passed away last year. The Motor Neurone Disease Association has a special place in Emma’s heart as it was able to provide crucial information and offer support to the family during a difficult time.

Emma talks about her motivation for raising money for the MND charity, saying “When Nan was first diagnosed with the disease we were left confused as to what it actually meant. I now know how debilitating it can be. It is a progressive disease that affects your nerves which means that it leaves simple tasks such as walking, talking, eating and even breathing difficult. As of yet there is no cure, and this is something I really want to change.”

Emma will be fundraising across Birmingham with Switch Radio in the run up to the jump, as well as recording audio of her journey, in order to raise a much money as possible for her cause.
