A new range of homes to be named ‘The Point’ has been given the go ahead on the site of a former Castle Vale school as part of an ongoing regeneration scheme.

The exciting development will take place on Farnborough Road on the site of the former Greenwood Academy which relocated several years ago. It will create 123 new two, three and four-bed homes available for sale through Lovell Partnerships, 40 rental properties for Birmingham City Council and 24 Pioneer Group rental properties, managed under its Castle Vale Community Housing brand.

Tenants in the Pioneer Group properties can access affordable rents, with rates set below 20% of the current market value.

Lovell Partnerships signed a development agreement with the Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust, and has been instrumental in revitalising  the area, having already built 230 homes on a site adjacent to Farnborough Road.

Regional Managing Director of Lovell Partnerships Stuart Penn said, “The Point is one of the biggest housing developments to come forward in this area for more than ten years. We have a strong history of work in Castle Vale and the wider Birmingham area which spans more than a decade.”

He said they are looking forward to developing much-needed homes, both for the open market and affordable tenures.

He added, “This particular location has a really interesting history, and the development will pay homage to the past while also looking to the future.”

CEO of The Pioneer Group Simon Wilson said, “This exciting new development on Farnborough Road supports our strategic aim to close the gap in the shortage of high quality and affordable housing in a high demand area. This is a great example of working together with the City Council and Lovells to deliver opportunities in the Vale.”

Mr Wilson said the project is in addition to the completion of 83 homes at Manor House, Station Road, Stechford and the initial construction of 14 new apartments on Slade Road in Stockland Green.

The Pioneer Group homes will include ten 1-bedroom apartments, eight 2-bedroom houses and six 3-bedroom houses, and will be allocated to applicants on the Castle Vale Community Housing waiting list. Further information on the allocation scheme and a link to the application form can be found on their website: www.cvch.org.uk/your-cvch/applying-for-a-home

Interested parties are advised to apply to the Birmingham City Council scheme as future vacancies will be subject to 50% nomination rights by the council after the initial lettings.
